Thanks for the info, bikerchic. I was pretty much told I had to be there or else. (I'm the manager.) I called my boss and told him I thought it was a bad idea to stay open. No love. What happens at the meet-up gatherings? Have you ever gone to one?

I can't believe I had to come into work today. I work at McMenamin's Ringlers/Crystal Ballroom. I live in Vancouver. My truck spun about 480 degrees and rammed into the guardrail on I-5 on the way in. It's nice to know that McMenamin's cares so much about their employee's safety. "We Never Close" is their motto. With such callous disregard for people's welfare, it makes me wonder if Mike & Brian McMenamin are really in cahouts with the WBTS.

Was anyone an actor in the District Convention Dramas?
by Low-Key Lysmith ini was the "bad association" for the young hero of that riveting tale.
all i could think of was the drama ending, going to lunch and sucking down a couple of muff'n'eggs followed by a danish, washed down with some shasta, and a pudding cup.
i just prayed my mom would rashion me out enough food-tickets to handle the job.

GO FISHING!!!!!
Is anyone else obesessed with angling? Or more specific, fly-fishing. I live in the Pacific Northwest and the fishin' here is top-notch. Salmon, Steelhead, Halibut, Walleye, the list goes on. You havn't truly lived until youve brought a 400# sturgeon up from the bottom of the Columbia River. ( The Washington State record for White Sturgeon is 1800#!!! 20 feet in length! No BS!) These fish are commonly caught in the 8-12 foot range. Excellent Smoked. Good times. That my friends makes for an awesome weekend. You sure as hell can't catch fish while you're out knockin' on peoples' doors and ruining their weekends. TAKE A KID FISHING.

Is It Just The Brits Who Make Jokes About Disasters?
by Englishman inthe tsunami jokes have started already.
perfectly nice people listen to the latest disaster joke, clap their hands over their mouths as though they were aghast with horror, then bray with laughter before filing it to memory so that they can pass the joke on to their friends.
many say it is the british way of coping with adversity, if you laugh at disaster it has no power over you.

I think anything that makes you laugh is healthy. Laughing is good for you. Jokes are all about context.
